CROSSED SWORDS

Here, I pose in front of the famous Crossed Swords. There are actually two sets of the swords, as you can tell from the picture. They book-end the military parade grounds that the Iraqi Army would use to showcase their wares to the dictator himself. It is now used by Coalition Forces to learn defensive driving manuvers -- a must-need skill for driving in the city.

WAR HONOR'S

A closeup of the base of the swords reveals a monument to Iraq's fallen soldiers in the likes of battle helmets.

TOMB OF THE UNKNOWN SOLDIER

The Iraqi Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. It serves the same purpose as the one in Arlington Cemetary, without the tourists or military formalities.

BROKEN CLOCK

This is a photo of a clock tower that was damaged during the war. In the background is the unfinished Ba'ath Party Headquarters Building, which was Saddam's political party. Ironically, the building now houses the courthouse that is being used for his tribunal.

UNDER THE GOLDEN DOME

My U.S. Army escort Humvee prepares to drive under one of the several archways that are located throughout Baghdad. This one is topped this a golden dome, and has office space located inside the structure.
